We are fundraising to purchase The Old Dairy in Heacham with the purpose or transforming it into a vibrant community art hub. Please help us achieve this goal.
Save The Old Dairy Heacham is a project that was born through the work of Esther Boehm artist and educator. Since opening her studio in the High Street of Heacham in 2017 it had become a place where people came to develop their skills and creativity in pottery, clay modelling, soapstone carving, sculpture with armatures and linocut. But it wasn’t only the classes, it was also the social aspect that was and still is important to everyone. Some have been coming since the studio has opened. Friends and community were made.
GW says it all, “Wow what a wonderful creative space. The time just flies. Esther brings out the hidden artist within, that you never knew existed. Its good value for money, so relaxing and therapeutic. A form of creative meditation. A real asset to our village……”
In 2024 Esther was given notice to vacate her studio – the landlord needed the property for his own use. Esther noticed that The delapidated Old Dairy at the heart of Heacham was up for sale by tender. It looked like the perfect new home for her studio and classes to expand into with other local artists joining in. The site is currently owned by the Heacham Parish Council. It was their ambition to renovate it and build a Community Centre. Unfortunately, this didn’t happen. However, it was still being marketed as a property for community use by the estate agent. What better way to fit its intended purpose than to transform it into an Art and Community Centre.
Since then a lot has happened. We formed The Old Dairy charity. We are five trustees and several volunteers who have come together to raise funds with the intent of purchasing the property. We believe that our vision would be a tremendous asset for Heacham and the surrounding area.
